As a Local Centre Coordinator it is important to understand, be aware of and manage risk when delivering Vicinity Centres Aussie Hoops programs and sessions. In any sporting activity inherent risks exist and it is important that your Vicinity Centres Aussie Hoops local centre is protected.
INSURANCE
Insurance cover for all Vicinity Centres Aussie Hoops programs is covered by your State or Territory Member Association.
As the Local Centre Coordinator it is your responsibility to contact your State or Territory Vicinity Centres Aussie Hoops contact to receive additional details on the type of Insurance provided to participants and Coaches when participating in Vicinity Centres Aussie Hoops. This information should then be on hand and available to all participants, parents and caregivers when requested.
INCIDENT AND INJURY REPORT FORMS
In the case of incident or injury during a session at your local centre we encourage Local Centre Coordinators to complete the relevant form provided as a digital template that can be printed off and completed. All completed incident or injury report forms should be filed and a copy provided to your State or Territory Vicinity Centres Aussie Hoops contact.
FEEDBACK/COMPLAINT FORM
If a parent, caregiver or participant requests to provide feedback or a complaint about the program at your local centre please provide them with the feedback/complaint form provided to you as a digital template. Like incident or injury report forms, all feedback/complaint forms should be filed and a copy provided to your State or Territory Vicinity Centres Aussie Hoops contact.
It is imperative that as the local centre coordinator you treat all complaints seriously and provide both acknowledgement of receipt and a written response outlining the outcome as a matter of best practice. In the scenario by which the complainant is dissatisfied with your response contact your State or Territory Vicinity Centres Aussie Hoops contact for further advice.
WORKING WITH CHILDREN
A Working with Children Check (WCC) is a criminal record check designed to protect children under the age of 18 years from harm in structured environments. This government check prevents those who pose a threat to the safety of children from working with them either in a full time, part time or voluntary capacity.
Basketball Australia requires all Vicinity Centres Aussie Hoops Local Centre Coordinators and Local Centre Coaches to hold a current police check and in applicable states, a Working with Children Check prior to coordinating a program or coaching a session. For further information on how to undertake a police check and/or Working with Children Check contact your State or Territory Vicinity Centres Aussie Hoops contact.
