Basketball Australia is proud to announce the continuation of its partnership for another two years with Spalding, marking its 14th year of collaboration.
Serving as the official ball provider for the Australian national teams, the Cygnett WNBL, the National Championships, Aussie Hoops and the Centre of Excellence, Spalding has played a pivotal role in enhancing the basketball experience for our athletes.
After the successful launch of She Hoops in October of last year, Spalding is now poised to reveal their newest collaborative venture - an exciting addition to their range of basketballs. This upcoming release not only pays homage to the core principles of She Hoops but also underscores the movement's commitment to nurturing female empowerment in sports.
In conjunction with this release, Spalding is set to introduce a Cygnett WNBL ball specifically designed for the Indigenous round. The ball will feature artwork created by Barkindtji, Yorta Yorta and Dhudaroah woman, Mara May, adding a unique and culturally significant dimension to the game.
“Having a household name like Spalding on board in this collaboration is a huge win for She Hoops. We remain committed in empowering women in basketball and what better way to have a ball that celebrates this,” said Lauren Jackson, Head of Women in Basketball.
Echoing Lauren’s sentiments, Matt Scriven, CEO of Basketball Australia said:
"Our dedication to fostering the growth of basketball lies at the very core of Basketball Australia and our partnership with Spalding.”
"It’s an incredibly exciting time for basketball in Australia across the board, with such strong talent represented on a national scale and thriving participation numbers at a grassroots and community level, we are proud to have Spalding as a key stakeholder of the game.
“We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Spalding team as we remain committed to growing participation and getting a Spalding ball into as many sets of hands as possible.”
Further highlighting Spalding's integral role within Australian basketball, Chris Lambert, the Managing Director of Spalding, conveyed his anticipation for the ongoing partnership.
“We are delighted to be extending our partnership with Basketball Australia. Supporting the game at all levels remains a focus. The growth in our Aussie Hoops range, coupled with new products for WNBL and our National Teams highlights the exciting opportunities ahead across basketball.”
