2019 Winner

Congratulations to Jakk Walsh from Eltham Basketball Association who won Aussie Hoops Coach of the Year for 2019.

Jakk not only coaches the Eltham Wildcats Aussie Hoops program but he runs/coordinates the program in its entirety. As the leader of the biggest program in Australia it would be easy for any 20 year old to rest on their laurels and allow development to stagnate, but it is Jakk's true passion for developing the next generation of basketball that sees him working around the clock chasing coach, player and parent feedback to improve our program. He motivates all of the coaches he manages and it is his passion for these children's development which upholds the whole programs hard working, holistic, team-centric approach to continually improving the way we carry ourselves, the creativity of our drills, the amount of skills the kids work on as well as many other aspects which are critical in running the most successful program we possibly can. On top of all of this Jakk possesses all of the skills desirable in a great coach, he is great at building connections with the kids and parents, he communicates clearly and concisely, he is always quick to improve and tweak drills to get the most out of the kids on a given day and most importantly he truly cares about each and every child's development.
